Ofsted Report

Moat Hall Academy was visited by an Ofsted inspection team on the 15th and 16th of July 2025.

This visit marked the school's first inspection in five years, following the previous one in 2020. Since then, Ofsted’s framework has evolved, and as of September 2024, schools are no longer assigned an overall effectiveness grade. However, Ofsted continues to carry out inspections to assess whether schools have successfully upheld the standards identified during their last full inspection.

This recent visit in July 2025 was our first inspection since our Requires Improvement report in 2020. This latest report praised the school’s high expectations for all students and recognised the strength of our ambitious and academically rich curriculum. Inspectors previously noted that the school was at least good in every category, highlighting leadership’s commitment to preparing pupils for life through a well-rounded and high-quality education. As a result, students were found to achieve well and feel safe and happy at school.

During this most recent inspection, our primary objective was to show that we have not only raised our standards, but also continually sought to improve the quality of our educational offer, opportunities, and outcomes for all students.

As Headteacher of Moat Hall Academy since 2017, I am proud to share this latest Ofsted report, which makes for truly positive reading. The report reflects the exceptional work being done across our school community and recognises the significant progress we’ve made.

Below are some highlights from the July 2025 Ofsted report:

“Pupils’ well-being is at the heart of this school”

“Teachers have strong subject knowledge”

“Pupils feel listened to and are proud that they can make a difference in school”

“Teachers and pupils enthusiastically join in with regular welcome class reading sessions where pupils experience a diverse range of texts”
